The ministry of tourism wildlife and antiquities, organized a sensitizational meeting last week on the upcoming hotel classification, to meet the criterias as stiputated in the east African Community Treaty on the hotel Standards.
This is aimed to make the region more competitive as tourist destination.this will help the government to promote tourism after the standardization,
It's the private sector to benefit more since 60% of the tourist budget is spent on meals accommodation which is provided though hotels.
Hotel owners will beneifit more since their hotels will be marketed both locally and internationally Mr. Baguma from the ministry said that the ministry is soon coming up with website of all the classified hotels in the country, which will the clients to make informed decisions on where to stay.
